3003 Aluminum Plate VS AA5052 Aluminum Alloy

The two major automotive sheets, as well as the most common in each class, are 3003 aluminum plate and 5052 aluminum sheet. There are so many uses of these sheets that people are not aware of the differences between them.

Differences between 3003 aluminum plate and AA5052 aluminum alloy:

Aluminum alloy containing important element in it that is manganese is present in 3003 aluminum sheet. A major component of the Al-Mg alloy AA5052 aluminum alloy is magnesium. Aluminium 3003 Plate has a little greater aluminum content than 5052 aluminum plate.

Dimensions:

Thick aluminum sheets are primarily produced using the alloy 3003, but thin aluminum sheets and aluminum plates made from 5052 are also commonly used.

Mechanical Properties:

The tensile strength of 3003H24 aluminum sheet is 145-195Rm/MPa, but the tensile strength of 5052H24 aluminum sheet is 230-280Rm/MPa, which is much greater than that of 3003H24 aluminum.

The extension strength of 3003H24 aluminum sheet is 115Rm/MPa, whereas that of 5052 h24 aluminum alloy is 150Rm/MPa. As a result, the performance of 5052 aluminum sheet is substantially superior than that of 3003 aluminum plate.

Scope of Application:

In the automobile sector, 3003 aluminium alloy is utilised for vehicle batter shells, whereas 5052 aluminium sheet is used for coaching plastic panels, car windows, fuel lines, and other similar applications. Because of its outstanding pro properties, 3003 aluminium is frequently utilised in moist conditions. Aluminum alloy AA5052 is also utilised in electrical insulators, means of transport, pressure tanks, oil pipelines, and other applications.

Prices:

3003 aluminium sheet is currently priced a little higher than plain aluminium sheet, but 5052 aluminium sheet is considerably more expensive.

Strength:

In contrast, 5052 is stronger and has superior corrosion resistance, drawing, machinability, great strength, and is also weldable, whereas 3003, which is relatively soft, has good corrosion resistance, drawings, processability, and intermediate strength, and therefore is strong and durable.
